Background

Bangladeshi Community Association (BCA) was first established in 1983 under the name Keighley Bangladesh Youth Organisation (KBYO). It operated from a small rented office unit from Mantra House complex on Keighley's South Street.

 

The then organisations primary focus was to meet the social and welfare needs of the Bangladeshi people living in the Keighley and surrounding areas by providing welfare benefit advice and voice the needs of this minority community.

 

In 1996 with the support of Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) the organisation was able to purchase its own offices were it was able to set up its base and become the hub of the Knowle Park community. Offering varied and much need services and activities for the Knowle Park community.

 

The organisation is governed by a constitution and has an elected management who run and manage the organisations on a voluntary capacity. The organisations is a registered charity which has OSIC and CLS approved services.

 

The organisations main objective still remains the same to improve the condition of life for the residents of Keighely's Knowle Park community.
